What is
CRYOSPHERE:
A Public Meltdown
CRYOSPHERE: A Public Meltdown is an immersive, multi-sensory media installation created by James Killick. Merging international field production, high-definition drone cinematography, and projection mapping, the project transforms complex environmental data into a visceral, human experience.
Developed as a flagship graduation project for a BA (Hons) in Media Production, the installation achieved the highest practical mark in the entire cohort, graduating with First Class Honours. Selected for the 2026 Climate Selection, Cryosphere stands as a powerful testament to the intersection of elite media production, environmental advocacy, and contemporary installation art.
In February 2025, Killick led a production expedition to Iceland's Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, capturing the raw visual assets and ambient audio landscapes that form the beating heart of this multi-sensory exhibition.
